Master Elite Residential Contractors

What does is mean to be Master Elite Certified?

Having seen the logo in a few places on our site you're probably wondering what it means to be a GAF Master Elite Certified roofing contractor, and why it matters to you.

The answers below will help arm you with the information you need to know when hiring a qualified company to install your roof.

Not only will reading it be worth your time, it may potentially save you thousands of dollars in the long run.
You may be surprised but in New Hampshire, and several other states, there are no requirements to become a roofing contractor. Anyone with a hammer or nail gun can install your roof. Considering this fact, it is no surprise that roofing complaints make up 70% of the Better Business Bureau's overall complaints!

Your roof is easily the single most important element in the protection of your home. So why would any homeowner ever choose to go with the lowest roofing bid from some fly-by-night contractor? We're not sure, but believe they simply don't have all the facts.
Select a contractor who is backed 100% by their manufacturer. A few shingle manufacturers have certification programs that allow contractors to offer better warranties to homeowners. These programs are fantastic, but if you choose the wrong one there may still be some gaps in your overall protection.

The biggest problem with standard manufacturer warranty programs is there is no factory certification on the installation. So while you may have a certified roof with a certified contractor, when it comes time for a warranty replacement there can be multiple factors that disqualify you from getting the warranty coverage.
Hire a GAF Master Elite Certified Contractor!

A GAF Master Elite Certified contractor is the only roofer than can provide homeowners with a GAF Golden Pledge Warranty, the most powerful and substantial warranty in the entire roofing industry.

A Golden Pledge Warranty is the only warranty that requires the entire roof system be comprised of exclusively GAF products. By using a single manufacturer's products to complete the project, this ensures the integrity of the full roof system. There isn't much of an extra cost to do a roof this way, perhaps a few hundred dollars on a mid-size roof. Less than buying a warranty on a new TV, and the TV does a terrible job keeping your living room free from rain and snow!
Technically no, but technically yes. It is a Factory Certified roof installation.

The Golden Pledge Limited Warranty covers the qualified GAF roofing products installed on your roof for the lifetime of those products in the unlikely event that they contain a manufacturing defect.

The major thing that makes these warranties stand apart from other warranties? They also cover the misapplication of your GAF Products as well as flashings at valleys, dormers, chimneys, and plumbing vents provided the installation is done by a GAF Master Elite Certified Contractor. This coverage includes not only the replacement roofing products, but also the cost to have the repair completed.
It's all about their experience, training and insurance!

GAF Master Elite Certified contractors make up only 3% of total roofing contractors nationwide. The reason? It's damn hard to achieve!

GAF verifies the following as part of granting a company Master Elite status:
  • Minimum of 7 years in business, with at least 1 year in the GAF Certified Program
  • 99% customer satisfaction based on confirmed independent surveys done by GAF
  • $1 million general liability coverage, plus proper and valid workers compensation
  • Satisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau
  • GOOD or better credit rating
  • Clean banking record (no overdrafts, negative info)
  • Clean distributor reference (means we pay our bills)
  • No liens, or judgements unresolved on record
  • Good workmanship record
This stringent screening makes it almost impossible for 97% of companies to meet the requirements. But even if they do, there is still the final test - a face to face meeting with the territory manager to verify all information, personally inspect previous jobs, and talk to previous customers.

This certification process builds a true and lasting partnership between GAF and their Certified contractors. Choosing a GAF Master Elite Certified contractor is your assurance that you'll be hiring a quality and dependable professional contractor.
